Welcome to our farm

The farm is a passion project, turned wellbeing eco-retreat of the senses.

It’s best seen to believe.

The story behind our Farm

Carolyn has been in the north Okanagan since moving in 1969 from Vancouver. Windhorse farm was created after purchasing the land in 1986. In 2006 the dream to create an oasis to share began awakening. The installation of teepees and downsizing from a boarding and world-class APHA horse breeding facility started to take shape. In 2014 the fields of lavender were planted and an apiary was added.  In 2016 a full size steam distiller was purchased along with areas for creating honey and lavender products. In 2017, the Peace Garden started to take shape, replacing an outdoor riding ring with a contemplation garden, complete with a koi pond, full of magic nooks and crannies.

Windhorse Farm is situated on a south slope of the picturesque Coldstream Valley, 8 miles east of Vernon, British Columbia. The farm is set against a treed crown land backdrop and neighboured to the west by the historic 9500 acre Coldstream ranch. Windhorse Farm is an oasis of beloved trees of all varieties, green pastures, a dog named Nina, contented laying hens, a honey bee yard and a contemplation garden, full of magic nooks and crannies , complete with a Water Lilly filled Koi and Goldfish pond. The perfect haven to sit and contemplate just how beautiful and quiet life can be.

“The inspiration for growing lavender was my Nanna, Sylvia Guppy. She always smelled like lavender and that perfume means love to me. I feel her here.

“The morphing process that has happened here,  and in my life in general, from a hotelier to a full-time horse operation, to a tranquil place to share the quiet,  brings to mind my favourite saying.....”Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape.””
